Meet with people of faith, dedication, and courage who seek to improve their country from within. Learn first hand how trade agreements affect the lives of those in the countryside, how emigration is seen as the only viable alternative to survival. Learn about health care concerns, and how the immediate past has shaped the environment in this young and fragile democracy. Walk the holy ground of sites where Archbishop Romero, the four North American churchwomen and others were murdered. Dialogue with U.S. Embassy personnel.

The following are events which will provide participants superb overview of life in El Salvador:

history presented by Salvadorans
visit to a hospital that serves only the poor, and provides health services to 95% of the people of El Salvador
hear the experiences of Mothers of the Disappeared, a group which formed during the years of the civil war
see a cooperative housing development in Santa Ana, the second largest city in El Salvador
dialogue with officials at the U.S. embassy
